Queens College employs several grades. It is important to acknowledge the differences among them and to assign the appropriate grade for each student's performance and attendance.
For definitions of all grades, go to
https://www.qc.cuny.edu/aac/academic-and-grading-policies/.
To better assist you in the process of assigning grades, we have included a more detailed explanation of several grades:
WU = A grade of WU is to be assigned to students who attended a minimum of one class,
completely stopped attending at any time before final exam week, and did not take the final exam.
INC = This is a temporary grade that may be assigned by faculty in consultation with
the student when there is an expectation that the student can pass the course by submitting outstanding work no later than the last day of the following semester. Additionally, the INC grade can be used when a student has been absent from the final exam and
a make-up exam is scheduled no later than the last day of the following semester, or its equivalent in calendar time, exclusive of Summer Session.
PEN Grade = Faculty can also submit a PEN grade to facilitate the implementation of
the procedures for imposition of sanctions related to academic integrity. The PEN grade is not available on faculty grade rosters but can be assigned via the PEN Grade Assignment Form. Please email Maksuda Khatoon in the QCHub at
mkhatoon@qc.cuny.edu if you need the PEN Grade Assignment Form.
