Professor Vikki C. Terrile (QC GSLIS) "What Librarians and Mothers in Temporary Housing Really Think about Libraries"

Professor Terrile, who joined QC GSLIS in 2023, specializes in family homelessness and its intersection with libraries and education. Her research began with outreach work to NYC family shelters as a public librarian and evolved into comprehensive studies of library services for people experiencing homelessness. She examined how youth services librarians conceptualize homelessness and library services, revealing significant gaps in support for homeless families. Through phenomenological analysis, she documented how librarians navigate professional obligations and institutional constraints while serving these vulnerable populations.

Sincerely,

Kate
