Thanks so much, Ben.

I'll make every effort to be there!

Thanks Claudia.  I understand.

The appropriate course of action was / is to request a meeting with Marcum and Valero (appropriately cc'd on your initial message).  And, (accounting for your recognized typo) this would schedule for 11:00 on Thursday.  And, as requested, it appears the faculty generally are now invited to attend and/or visit.

In closing, I would ask if Marcum and Valero are available for a meeting prior to our scheduled Faculty meeting.

Thanks, and, again, I will get this to you ASAP.

Best.

Re: Special Events Committee Meeting

Thanks, Ben,

My impression from Jim's email regarding the appointment of committees was that calls for meetings should be directed to the faculty as a whole, including adjuncts, in case others NOT on the committee in question might wish to attend.  There has been a good deal of discussion among 701 instructors regarding Curriculum Space, and I suspect that some adjuncts would like to contribute to the discussion, even if they cannot attend a meeting.  Lastly, perhaps there is  typo in your message to Harry and Colleen?  My impression is that our faculty meeting on Thursday will begin at 12:30, so a 1:00 meeting would not seem to work out all that well.  I think that last week you had mentioned 11:00 as a possible meeting time.

See the material reproduced below from Jim's email dated 12-1-2011.

3. I'm strongly urging committee chairs to post notice of
meetings and major agenda items. I urge that we be as open
and transparent as possible. Please encourage those with
interest in the agenda item to participate (non-voting). There
may be adjuncts that the committe wants to put on their
mailing list as well; please do so.
If we could get the committees organized before breaking for
the holidays that would allow them to 'chat' and dialogue by
email or whatever before the Spring rush hits.
Committee (short labels):
Academic Standing: Cooper, Cool (c), Li
Curriculum: Brody, Cooper, Cool, Chelton (c) (The one expection to the 'rule of 3'
Planning: Marcum (c), Brody, Alexander
Technology: Ng (c), Kibirige, Valero
Publications: Kibirige (c), Li, Chelton
Special Events: Alexander (c), Valero, Marcum

I'm also a little confused about your mentions of Colleen and Harry in the call for a meeting below, although I see that you cc'ed Walter and Jim on this message.    Were you perhaps thinking of the prior composition of the committee when you sent out the announcement on 12/7, not the ones named in Jim's 12/1 email?  It would seem (although perhaps I am wrong here), that the new committee members would best be the ones to address their future responsibilities, rather than those who will no longer be on the committee for the next semester.

Sorry to create complications, but I'm not quite sure what is going on here.

Thanks,

Claudia

Hi Ben,

Last week you said you would call for a meeting of the Special events
committee so that members could vote on the suggestion that Special
Events take responsibility for Curr. Space?

Given that Curr. Space events need to be planned in advance, it would
be very helpful if this could be addressed before the end of the
semester.

Many thanks,

Claudia

Special Events Committee Meeting

Special Events Committee:

I would like to propose that we plan a meeting prior to our Holiday Party next week. Perhaps about 1:00 in GSLIS. Our main action item is discussing our jurisdiction of Curriculum Space.

Thanks.
