Colleagues,

 

On behalf of the UFS’s Academic Freedom Committee, I am pleased to announce that we are available to make a tailored, live online presentation at your campus about academic freedom at CUNY. The purpose of the presentation is to educate the CUNY campus community--focusing on faculty and faculty leaders as an ideal audience--about our academic freedom rights and our responsibility to protect these rights. 

 

The following topics will be covered through a Zoom, Power Point presentation:

 

  1. What is academic freedom (AF)?
  2. Why should everyone care about AF?
  3. Why is AF important at CUNY?
  4. Historic examples of AF violations
  5. AF and students (undergrad/grad)
  6. AF violations: what to do?
  7. Questions?

 

If you are interested in bringing this presentation to your campus, please reach out directly to me, Douglas A. Medina at douglas.medina@guttman.cuny.edu

 

As a faculty leader at your campus, we request that you consider the following before scheduling a presentation before the end of the current semester:

 

  1. Can you guarantee an audience of 10 or more faculty?
  2. Are you flexible in scheduling a time/day for the presentation which includes time for Q&A?”
