?I learned yesterday that the GSLIS has received a $2.5 million endowment from the estate of Mr. Adam Conrad, who previously funded the Conrad-Libretto scholarships in GSLIS, in honor of his late wife. Mr. Conrad was the husband of Ellen Libretto, a former alumna of GSLIs who devoted her decades long career to enhancing literacy among youth and teens, through her work at NYPL. At this moment I know only that approximately $1 million of this fund will be directed to support student scholarships and the other $1.5 million is to be used to fund an endowed professorship - also commonly referred to as an "Endowed Chair", but not to be confused with departmental chair. I will have further details about this endowment in the next few days.
