Dear adjunct and full time faculty, Our contract stipulates classroom observations every semester for adjunct and untenured faculty. Should you be in one of these categories, you will be contacted shortly by a faculty member assigned to observe your teaching, in order to schedule this visit. The contract states that these observations be conducted during the first half of the semester. Please do not wait until later than that, as schedules tighten and many classes are devoted to student presentations during the latter weeks of the semester. When you are contacted by a faculty member for the purposes of arranging the observation, you will be asked to share a copy of your course syllabus and classroom teaching materials for the observation day with that faculty member. If you are teaching online, you may be asked to enroll the faculty observer as a guest in your Blackboard roster. Remember that these observations are friendly opportunities to point out strengths as well as possible areas of improvement in your teaching. They are also contractually mandated and your participation is appreciated. Thank you. Colleen Colleen Cool, Ph.D. Professor and Chair GSLIS Queens College/CUNY
