I’m writing on behalf of the GSLIS Curriculum Committee to ask you to send the syllabi for the courses you are teaching this semester to Bridget in the GSLIS office at Bridget.Kavanagh@qc.cuny.edu<mailto:Bridget.Kavanagh@qc.cuny.edu> GSLIS routinely stores copies of syllabi for all courses we offer, so that they are available for inspection by the college, university or New York State Education Department when needed, and by the American Library Association during our accreditation every seven years. Your syllabus will not be shared beyond these uses. While there are differing views about who owns the intellectual property in syllabi, following the Concordia University scandal<https://www.chronicle.com/article/dead-man-teaching> I want to assure you that GSLIS will never teach your syllabus or use your teaching materials without your permission. We keep syllabi on file for compliance reasons only. If you are teaching a section of a class where an agreed syllabus is in common use across sections, such as the core courses and 709, we still need you to submit a copy, so that internal and external reviewers can be assured that students are receiving a consistent education.
