Dear faculty,

Department chairs have just been informed about a number of incidents at Queens College, where people who are not students have attended classes and recorded lectures on their phones.

If this happens when you are teaching on campus, please call Public Safety immediately. They can be reached 24 hours a day at the following numbers.

718-997-5911

718-997-5912

You may wish to save these numbers in your phone.

Susana, could you please check and see if these numbers are displayed in our classrooms, and if not, please print them and tape them to the lecterns?

Those teaching at Baruch should be unaffected, as I believe that access to Baruch still requires a CUNY ID.

These incidents have targeted the Education department, so it is reasonable to assume that our department’s classes may also be of interest to these people, but I want to assure you that the chairs are taking the question of public safety up with the President’s office, and the union has also been informed.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or experience any interruptions to your classes, and I will let you know when we hear more.

Best,

James
