Colleagues, Please see below for the timeline and resources regarding the college’s move from the Blackboard to the Brightspace learning management system. Given the disastrous consequences of the website “soft launch” and earlier email “cut over”, I’d encourage faculty to download and save any content they have in Blackboard and may wish to reuse in future. Best, James Dear Faculty, As you have heard by now, Queens College will be transitioning from the Blackboard LMS to Brightspace in 2024. The Queens College ITS team and CETLL will coordinate efforts to provide in-depth, hands-on workshops; training resources; virtual office hours; and individual appointments. You will also have access to training opportunities and other resources through CUNY. The timeline for this transition is as follows: Fall 2023 * All courses are taught in Blackboard. * Brightspace training begins for instructors. * Courses in Blackboard from 2021-2023 are converted and transferred to Brightspace. This conversion will be done by the CUNY Brightspace administrators and will include course content only, not student data. Courses prior to 2021 must be converted manually by faculty. Spring 2024 * All courses are taught in Blackboard. * Instructors will gain access to the Brightspace environment. * Course development by instructors begins. * Access to My Courses (Blackboard) will end at the end of Spring 2024. Summer/Fall 2024 * Students will have access to Brightspace starting May 2024. * All Courses and Organizations will be conducted through Brightspace. Please note that this timeline applies to Queens College. If you also teach at another CUNY campus, please consult their website for their transition timeline.
