His brief bio appears below:

Aaron Elkins served as a school librarian for ten years before leaving the field to complete his Ph.D. in Information Studies at Florida State University.  During his tenure as a school librarian, Aaron achieved National Board Certification, served as an assessor for the National Board, and mentored many candidates during their efforts to achieve certification.  He also worked to increase collaboration between school and public libraries, serving as the liaison to the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative’s Young Adult Special Interest Group.  In addition to serving as president of his local professional organization, Aaron facilitated one of their professional learning communities for many years.  His work as a practitioner has influenced his research interests during his time in the doctoral program, which have coalesced around school librarians’ roles, children’s materials, and 21st Century Literacies.  In his spare time, Aaron enjoys going for walks, playing video games, and baking.
