Dear Students,

We encourage you to complete the online course evaluations for the courses in which you are currently enrolled.

This provides valuable feedback to faculty and to the department on ways in which we improve the teaching/learning process and improve our course offerings.

In addition, it provides valuable evidence to support our reaccreditation effort.

In past years GSLIS students were in top five departments/programs in their response rate, which is truly remarkable given the size of our program.  Currently we are in 28th place, with a response rate of 13.5%.

We know it is a busy time of year but there is a nice incentive (beyond doing a good deed!) in the sense of a $15.00 printing credit on your ID.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Sincerely,

cp

Course evaluations are underway for Spring 2011. What's new this year is that students who complete all their evaluations will get a $15.00 printing credit on their ID card.  The other new thing is that the students have mounted an active campaign to encourage completions. So far, the response rate is up to about 12% -- the response rate table so far is attached.

The online course/faculty evaluation website is open for this semester:

Wednesday, April 27 through Wednesday, May 18

Please take the time to encourage your students to contribute evaluations for all of the courses they're taking. These evaluations (the comments in particular) are useful in assessing the impact of your teaching on your students, and are part of the supporting materials used for purposes of reappointment, tenure, and promotion. They are also used by students to make decisions about what courses to take.
