Dear bb,

I sent it out directly after (apologies for omitting) but will attach again.  Also the original proposal (MAMLSProposal 4 dept.docx)

I'm not sure whether the Draft minutes from the February 6 Jt. Meeting of the Assessment and Curriculum committees  at which these issues were discussed was sent out to the full faculty (we have had a whole slew of meetings and quite frankly keeping up with all the minutes has been confusing), but I attach here.  (I believe that we have a final approved version but in the interest of moving this forward will not look for it now).

In brief, the relevant portions relating to below are as follows:

a.    Prof. Allen proposed increasing the total number of hours from 42 to 54 credit hours for the joint program in order to address concerns that those seeking jobs as librarians would have sufficient GSLIS coursework to adequately prepare them for the workplace.  This would result in 8 courses from each department, plus thesis/research credits.
b.    The group agreed that History 791 plus a thesis course, OR LBSCI 709 could suffice for meeting the research requirements of the joint degree, but not both.

Also:  a.    Courses within history of potential interest to GSLIS students include one in Oral History and in History of the Book

But you are correct, there was a suggestion that (I think) LBSCI 732 be cross-listed.  This was not included in the Jt. Comm. minutes but perhaps should be in the corrected minutes.  Do you think we need that degree of detail in the proposal?

Also, copying the Adjunct List on this thread; my apologies for this oversight initially.

Sorry to confuse with all the attachments, but here goes.  If this does not go through with all attachments I will send separately.
