Dear Students,

Dr. Li and I strongly endorse Mr. Eckhardt's suggestion that you purchase the spiral bound version of the APA Manual 6th edition, which is the required citation guide for all GSLIS courses.

I personally have struggled with propping the bound version open, and it is indeed a pain!

Thanks to Mr. Eckhardt for this excellent tip!

Drs. Li and Perry

Subject: Text for LISCI 702 - Publication Manual of APA 6th Edition

Good morning,

I was going through the list of textbooks that I have to purchase for all of my classes and noticed the Publication Manual of APA 6th Edition. I received my first Master’s degree in 2003 and have been an online adjunct professor since 2004. I spoke with Dr. Perry about this after Orientation on August 21st. I already have my Publication Manual, so I am not going to purchase another. But, I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND and ask you to please pass on to the other students in the class and for future classes the spiral bound version over the paperback. Why you may ask? The spiral bound can lie flat on a desk, table, in a lap, or on a thigh, and/or can be folded in half making for a much easier writing and reference experience when typing a paper. IF, one has the paperback, the binding has to be worked/broken in before it sometimes stays open.

The Spiral Bound is ISBN-10: 1-4338-0562-6

Respectfully,
Jack
