Colleagues,
Today the GSLIS faculty voted to adopt the attached syllabus template for all GSLIS syllabi. Please ensure that your syllabi from the Spring 2023 semester onwards conform with this template.
The template includes guidance notes in blue, and examples in green.
Please note that section B has been updated to include the new GSLIS student learning outcomes. All course student learning outcomes should be mapped to assignments, and to GSLIS student
learning outcomes, as shown in the example. The helps students and accreditation authorities see how the course contributes to the goals of the department and the objectives of the curriculum over all. It may take some time to map your course learning outcomes
in this way, but it is an opportunity to think through if / how well your assignments assess student learning against the stated goals.
Section I Additional Information contains updated links to the Writing Center, and new sections on “Participation and Conduct” and “Counseling”.
As always, please be sure to send copies of your syllabi to Bridget Kavanagh
Bridget.Kavanagh@qc.cuny.edu for filing. We need the syllabi for inspection by accreditation authorities.
With thanks,
James
