Greetings. My name is Yongsoo Park at Mahanaim school in Huntington, NY. I’m writing today to seek a referral to a potential advisor who would be able to assist us with our library development.
Mahaniam is currently a postsecondary non-degree granting school in the state of New York. Founded in 2007, we run three certificate-granting programs, ESL, Theology, and Music, under BPSS (Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision). Obviously, our wish is not to remain at the non-degree granting level for our Theology and Music programs. BPSS is just a stepping-stone towards becoming a college. Our school is currently preparing its proposal for degree-granting status for our music program. This means that if approved, we will have the authority to grant our students a Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in Voice, Piano, or Orchestral Instruments upon completion of our four-year program.
The proposal contains many components including a self-study that must be done of the entire institution. Within the self-study is a separate section just for the library. Regulations state that, among other requirements, we must possess and maintain collections sufficient in breadth and depth to adequately support our mission and curricula. Our school does have a library space, but we still need to build our collections to support the music program and liberal arts component, as well as a cataloging system, inter-library loan agreements, etc.
We would like to speak with a potential advisor who might be able to take on this project so that we can further explain our situation and what work needs to be done. Any assistance you can be would be much appreciated. I look forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you and have a great day.
Sincerely,
