Colleagues,
Over the last month, many of you will have had your teaching observed and/or observed the teaching of others. Thank you for participating in this process, which is an expectation of the college and our accreditors, but which also hopefully provides an opportunity to reflect on and develop our teaching.
Following a teaching observation, the observer should complete a report using one of the attached forms. The report is sent to the person who was observed for their comments and signature. Both parties are welcome to meet to discuss the report, but if you mutually agree that that is not necessary, the observer can enter a date for the meeting, at which point the report is complete.
The observer should then email the report to me, and copy it to Susana for filing.
The person who was observed should save a copy of the report for their records, and if they are a tenured or tenure track member of faculty, they should also upload the report to Interfolio.
If you agreed to observe someone’s teaching and haven’t yet done so, please try to complete that before the end of November.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this process, and thank you again for your work!
Best,
James
