Starting immediately, we will begin accepting applications for the June and July workshops of "Preparation for Teaching Online: A Foundational Workshop for CUNY Faculty<http://cunyonline.commons.gc.cuny.edu/>," scheduled for 6/15-28/15 and 7/13-26/15 respectively. Again, all workshop activities will be online. Applicants will need supervisory sign-off indicating they will be scheduled to teach at least one online or hybrid course in the term(s) ahead, with priority given to those scheduled to do so in the coming fall term. That supervisory approval (by both the department/program head and the CAO) is especially important since the campuses are to pay each faculty member who successfully completes the workshop 10 hours at the non-teaching adjunct rate for their participation; this amount will be reimbursed to the college once the faculty member has taught six online or hybrid credits within the two semesters following the workshop. (As noted in earlier announcements, this is to ensure that there is follow-through -- actual delivery -- on the online or hybrid courses these workshops are intended to foster.) The mentoring manual -- which the observation form is keyed to -- is so detailed that it may be more useful to have the "interaction guidelines," a one-pager sent out to all faculty by their academic directors (our equivalent of dept chairs) at the start of each term. I also have appended not just the standard contract but the request form that must be filed by the AD and approved before hand, as well as the approval sign-off. That's the full arc of the process. There are also something like seven variants on that contract (for minor revisions, for multiple authors, etc.). Hope this can be helpful. Hello, My name is Lucia Cedeira Serantes and I am a new faculty member at GSLIS. I have met some of you during the last months, but not all so nice to meet you, even if virtually! I am contacting you to request some information for the school website. GSLIS is in the process of developing a new website and in this new design we would like to incorporate more information about our adjuncts. The objective of doing this is twofold: 1) to support the course selection process from the students; 2) to showcase the amazing pool of adjunct instructors we have in the school. The information we would like you to share is the following: * Work title and work place * Courses being taught presently and/or in the past * Contact information * Short personal statement: something you would like to share with the students * Picture (if you do not have one, you can email me and I will get you in touch with a person who can go to your class and take some) We would like to have this information before the end of the term to include it in the website during the summer term and have it ready for sure in the fall term.
