I could not find terse language to share with you from the US DOE website (I will share if I unearth something useful). On the other hand, Middle States offers good advice on this topic: · http://www.msche.org/documents/Distance-Education-and-the-Higher-Education-… · http://www.msche.org/documents/implementing-the-accreditation-provisions-in… I'm also attaching a document with the text in place for CUNY SPS (and I believe also John Jay) regarding current protocols. Dear colleagues, In trying to set up an auto-reply rule on my email account, I instead seem to have created a monster that went back in time and sent the auto-reply to anyone I have written to all the way back to February. I think I have stopped it, but my sincere apologies for jamming your inboxes! I will be out of town from later today through April 21, and will only have limited email access, although I will try to respond to my students re: coursework. Dear valuable adjuncts, I have two news items: 1. First, I am excited to introduce our newest adjunct faculty members. Maggie Murphy, Digital Resources Curator in the QC Art Department, will be teaching Art Librarianship in fall 2014. Also beginning in fall 2014, Christel Haesicke, course assistant in the Internship course this semester, will be teaching one section of Internship as well as serving as Acting Course Coordinator for the Internship program. We are excited to add these new members to our existing adjunct talent pool. 2. Second, it is time to make yourselves present on our GSLIS website!! Dr. Yunseon Choi is a candidate for a faculty position in the GSLIS. Tomorrow at noon she will give a research talk, "Social Metadata for Enhancing Access to Information." This talk will take place in the GSLIS mac lab. >From 6:00-7:00pm Dr. Choi will give a classroom lecture on "A New Direction in Information Organization:Social Indexing". The location will be announced tomorrow. Following the classroom lecture there will be a dinner at Asian Gourmet restaurant , 57-11 Main St., Flushing. Gslisadjuncts Use of APA by students

Dear colleagues, This is part plea, part rant, and part lament. The style manual adopted by the department is APA, and it is expected that student compliance with its use will be required and enforced by ALL faculty. This is not happening, and some of us teaching advanced courses are getting at best inconsistent citation crap on assignment papers, which forces totally unnecessary copy editing and reteaching of APA. There is absolutely no point in requiring this manual if we are not all enforcing its use, and it makes teaching 709 a misery. Would you please make students use it and lower their grades if they don’t, so we can cure this? It is sending an inconsistent message to students and becoming infuriating to those of us who are trying to get them to use it properly. Please make APA compliance on papers part of the grade.
