[Englishstudents] Call for Submissions - NYU BRIO Literary Journal
Hello students! Please see the message below from NYU’s undergraduate Comparative Literature journal BRIO: This Fall, NYU’s undergraduate Comparative Literature journal BRIO invites undergraduate students from across the nation to submit works of any medium and genre (short stories, poems, academic writing, translations, visual art, screenplays, sheet music, and so many more) to be considered for the Fall 2025 DECOMPOSITION issue. As the publication of the Comparative Literature department, we also accept works in any language, provided you include an English translation. We have just extended the submission deadline to November 12th! Here is a short description for our theme: Decomposition can be found everywhere. The fallen leaves of the season slowly dissolve to nourish the ground; the decay and disassembly of dead bodies begets more life; and the dissolution of empires offers us bittersweet clarity. What can be learned from breaking wholes into their parts? We want to know what the word decomposition means to you and what it inspires you to (de)compose. Whatever the language, genre, or medium, send it our way. All undergraduates, regardless of their field of study, may submit materials of an intertextual, intercultural, and inter-disciplinary focus in any language. Creative as well as academic submissions are equally welcome, providing they fit this semester’s theme. Prose submissions must be under 1,500 words. 5 poems are the limit for poetry submissions. All text documents should be in an editable .doc or .docx format. All images should be in .jpg format, and you may submit up to 5 images.
