Good Morning, Hello! My name is Sierra Santiago, and I am the Outreach Coordinator of the Peace Action chapter of the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY. Peace Action is the nation's largest grassroots peace advocacy organization. For years now, Macaulay Peace Action has been highlighting the systemic injustices and inequalities that have shaped the United States and the world at large. I am writing on behalf of Peace Action to welcome students, faculty, and alumni to attend Macaulay Peace Action's workshops with PEN America, a massive organization of novelists, journalists, poets, and many other writing professionals dedicated to the protection of free speech, and to inquire if you would be willing to share and advertise information about this event. We ask that you please read and share the information below, including the attached flyer. In these workshops, students will discuss the work that goes into protecting free expression and how students can become human rights advocates. These workshops will center on PEN America's work and discuss issues like free speech on college campuses & how to use expression to advocate for human rights! We find that this kind of experiential learning may be an effective means of education and advocacy. These would be excellent networking opportunities for aspiring journalists, political activists & scientists, and students all-around! To connect students around the issues of protecting human rights is critical to building an engaged and critical student body! These events are open to all CUNY students, alumni, and faculty. This first workshop will be held on Friday, April 9th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Any questions can be directed to us at our email peaceaction@macaulay.cuny.edu<mailto:peaceaction@macaulay.cuny.edu> or our Instagram @MHCPeaceAction<https://www.instagram.com/mhcpeaceaction/>! Anyone that wishes to attend can either be directed to Peace Action through our email or Instagram; they can be sent the Zoom information below. We sincerely thank you for your time, consideration, and support. We hope to welcome students, faculty, and alumni from the English department at Queens College for this very important event! In solidarity, Sierra Santiago Outreach Coordinator, Macaulay Peace Action https://macaulay.cuny.edu/
