We warmly invite applications from literature students who may not have a background in performance. Applicants are welcome to be in touch with me at kate@shakespeareacademystratford.org<mailto:kate@shakespeareacademystratford.org> with any questions about this year's program. Thank you! Best wishes, Kate Doyle Kate Doyle Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford www.shakespeareacademystratford.org<http://www.shakespeareacademystratford.org/> APPLY to Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford's 2016 Ensemble Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford<http://www.shakespeareacademystratford.org> is a summer theater training and performance program that uniquely combines three key elements: Shakespeare study, contemporary ensemble training and repertory performance. Now entering its third season, SA@S brings together a small, eclectic, passionate ensemble from around the U.S. and internationally to engage in a rigorous, collaborative, and interdisciplinary experience. The fourteen ensemble members will live, train and perform in Stratford, Connecticut on the property that once housed the legendary American Shakespeare Festival Theater. This year's program will run June 26 to August 8. In addition to daily ensemble workshops and weekly work-in-progress showings, the ensemble will take master classes with internationally recognized instructors in acting, Shakespeare’s text, Droznin, Lucid Body, voice & speech, clown, Shakespeare scholarship and design. Perhaps the most exciting -- and unique -- aspect of the program is the opportunity to rehearse and then perform in two full length Shakespeare productions simultaneously in the final week of the program. This summer’s offerings will be Love’s Labour’s Lost and Richard III. Assistant directing opportunities are also available. All performances are open to the public. Applications<https://app.getacceptd.com/shakespeareacademy> to the Summer 2016 season are currently being accepted from students entering college, attending college, and recent college graduates. The application consists of a written application and video submission. The deadline to apply is April 1. With our interdisciplinary approach in mind, we seek applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. Prior training in theater and/or Shakespeare is not a requirement for admission. Rather, we look for evidence of the applicant's desire to create, a strong work ethic, curiosity, and readiness to jump in, collaborate and take risks as part of a sustained ensemble-development process. Two full scholarships will be awarded to students attending this year's program.
