Good Afternoon Professor, I hope you're doing well! I'm Cecilia Ellis, NYPIRG’s project coordinator at Queens College. NYPIRG is the state’s largest student-directed, non-partisan, not-for-profit focusing on issues ranging from higher education affordability to fighting climate change and building civic empowerment among students. As campuses remain closed to instruction, we have continued our organizing and advocacy work. On Monday, July 27th at 3PM, NYPIRG will be hosting a virtual “Black Students Matter: The Role of College Students in the 2020 Uprising” panel. Elected officials and student leaders will answer questions about the Black Lives Matter movement, their views on how law enforcement should change, and what students can do to get involved. I was hoping you could post a brief announcement from NYPIRG about this event to your class’s discussion forum or announcement board to invite your students to attend and engage in the discussion.
