Dear English students, As we prepare for the online Fall semester, I just want to remind you all about the information session Prof. Weingarten and I will be hosting tomorrow, Wednesday August 19, at 1pm. Please attend to learn more about what to expect for the coming semester. Here is the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84480317146?pwd=UDVYd2QrTnN5Q05xR1p6R2I3Z3Qxdz09 Some questions have arisen about what the listed class meeting times in CUNYFirst mean, given that we are online. If your class is listed in CUNYFirst as having a day and time (e.g. M/W 1:40pm-2:55pm), then you can expect to have some synchronous meetings through video conferencing during that time, and should plan accordingly. All faculty will have their own plans about synchronous meetings, and will be in touch with you before the semester begins about their expectations, but you should plan on needing to attend video conferences at set times. Only a small handful of 300-level electives are fully asynchronous, and none of the 240s or 391W classes are asynchronous. As we navigate these new waters, the English faculty want to retain the expectations and standards of a conventional semester as much as possible, which includes sticking to course schedules. However, we do recognize that there are constraints on everyone's schedules and resources at the moment, so please reach out to your instructors now if you foresee any problems, for whatever reason, with attending synchronous meetings. We will try to accommodate you to the best of our abilities. Best wishes, Prof. Silyn Roberts Dr. Siân Silyn Roberts Associate Professor of English Director of Undergraduate Studies Department of English, Queens College Office Hours: hangouts.google on Mondays 9-10am (sian.silyn.roberts@qc.cuny.edu).
