Dear English Majors and Minors,

Are you a student of color who is interested in entering the field of education as a professor, K-12 teacher, or school counselor? If so, IRT is a great program that provides assistance with the application process in many different ways (including financial). See the attachments for more information. There will also be an informational session on campus on Friday, December 7 from 3- 5 pm in Powdermaker Hall room 304. Please RSVP for the event here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeRnO3Yj_nVZHzfmEQw2CF7aiz5m2F6amE4AL2BRdw-C20hBA/viewform

Hi!

My name is Monica and I am the Recruitment and Admission Programs Specialist at the IRT. I visited Queens College last year and this year, I will be visiting again on Friday, 12/7/18 from 3-5pm in Powdermaker Hall  Room 304.

The IRT recruits outstanding students of color and other scholars committed to diversity, and at no charge, counsel them through the graduate school application process and help advocate for sufficient funding for advanced studies in the Arts, Humanities, Education, Social Sciences, Computer Science, and Math. Our program is free to apply to, and we provide a paid summer internship and up to 12 graduate school application fee waivers.

I am requesting:

1)     If you or someone in your dept would be available to stop by during the info-session? The IRT is setting an intentional effort to recruit students from the CUNY system and with your diverse student population, I very  much see an overlap with our missions and hope to start a relationship with you and your department to be able to recruit more CUNY students and assist them through the graduate school application process

2)     If you could please share the attached promotional materials with colleagues, students, and in your office

3)     Share this link for students to RSVP for the event

Thank you so much for taking a moment to read my email. I hope to hear from you soon!

Best,
