2020 Census Jobs: The Census is hiring thousands of people in New York City to help prepare for and execute the 2020 Census. The temporary Census jobs fall into two categories:

  • Professional jobs that will provide managerial, administrative, and technical support for the Census count and pay $30 to $40 per hour
  • Field jobs that will ensure the Census operations are effective in the region and pay between $20 and $30 per hour.

Peer Mentor at Guttman Community College: The Peer Mentoring Program is an integral component of the academic and co-curricular student experience at Guttman Community College. Peer Mentors from across the CUNY system help ease the transition from high school to college, and coach students through their continued educational career while at Guttman. Reporting to the  Director and Associate Director of Mentoring & Student Success, Peer Mentors are visible, active, and invested in the development of an inclusive, academically-focused community.  There are four types of Peer Mentors: Admissions & Access, First Year Experience, Meet-up, and Transfer.

DoITT Associate Tech Fellowship: The DoITT Tech Fellowship  places recent CUNY associate degree graduates in full-time technology roles at New York City's Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT).  Fellows receive a competitive wage, professional development, and support throughout the three-year program. During the three years, fellows are expected to take civil service exams which would make them eligible to become New York City employees. Civil Service Pathways Fellowship: Interested in working at a NYC Government Agency? Apply to the Civil Service Pathways Fellowship at www.cuny.edu/cipportal The Civil Service Pathways Fellowship is a joint effort between CUNY and NYC DCAS to put you on the fast track to becoming a City employee. Open only to CUNY graduates with their bachelors, the Fellowship is a two-year program in which you will work full time at a City agency, receive training and become eligible to take a civil service exam after the first year. Unlike other fellowships, the Civil Service Pathways Fellowship helps to prepare and facilitate a seamless transition from fellow to a City employee.

JPMC Tech Connect Program: The JPMorgan Chase Tech Connect Program was created to help those underrepresented in technology gain the right skills to join the JPMC technology team.  If you have a passion for innovation, technology and financial services, this program will help you develop into an industry-leading professional. Tech Connect  is a multi-week intensive Java training where participants will learn to read, write and understand basic Java, as well as receive support and coaching from senior business leaders. The program also arranges networking opportunities that will help participants build a career with the firm. This coding boot camp leads in to JPMC's full-time Software Engineer Program.

Program Requirements:

  • CUNY students with expected graduation dates in Winter 2019 or Spring 2020. Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • The program seeks diverse candidates who do not have a background in computer science or coding, but have a passion for developing innovative technology solutions. Students pursuing degrees in finance, engineering, electrical engineering and other non-computer technical areas are preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, exposure to data analysis, familiarity with programming languages and excellent communication skills. 
  • Must have a clear passion for working in technology, highly motivated, intellectually curious, collaborative and open to new challenges.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

CUNY Tutor Corps Summer Jobs: Tutor Corps is a partnership between CUNY, the Office of the Mayor, and the NYC Department of Education.  This summer they are looking for studetnst to support STEM enrichment camps and/or Extended School Year classrooms.  Tutors are paid $17/hour and work for 19 hours per week.  You can learn more about the CUNY Tutor Corps program on their website.  Candidates interested in becoming a tutor should complete this application by May 17, 2019.

Client Communications Internship at DoITT: The NYC Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications (DoITT) is seeking a Client Communications Intern to join their team for Summer 2019.  The Client Communications Intern will support the drafting and scheduling of communications to City agency executives, foster IT collaboration, and perform admisitrative work as needed.  This is a 35/hours per week opportunity that would start in late May and last 10-12 weeks.  The pay rate is $20/hour.

Project Destined 2019/2020 Cohort: Project Destined is a real estate experiential learning program that allows high school and college students to learn about real estate investment in their own communities. The fall 2019 cohort will focus on the Mott Haven area of the Bronx. Scholars will work directly with business leaders and team mentors from Harvard Business School and Columbia Graduate School of Real Estate to envision concepts for new development along the Bronx waterfront. Between September 2019 and March 2020, scholars will be charged with developing innovative investment ideas for their local community while competing for over $25,000 in scholarship awards. COOP Digital Apprenticeship: COOP closes the social capital gap by recruiting and investing deeply in divers, low-income, and first generation graduates from CUNY and other urban public colleges.  COOP's flagship program is the Digital Apprenticeship.  Peer cohorts of 16 motivated, underemployed graduates meet nightly for 16 weeks (200 hours) to learn technical skills, build community, and jump-start careers in digital marketing and data analytics.  Check out this flyer to learn more about the apprenticeship program and steps to apply.  The application deadline for the Fall 2019 cohort is July 29.

Tech CreateHER: Join the tech CreateHER challenge hosted by Lehman College Women in Computer Science (WiCS) on Friday, May 10th!  The tech createHER challenge hackathon is a one-day event created to provide a space to celebrate, encourage, and support women creating and innovating in tech. We will be providing food and spending the day designing, building, and coding alongside other women also interested in tech.
