Good afternoon,
We hope you are doing well and staying safe! We wanted to reach out on behalf of the First Year Experience Program which is a peer-to-peer program intended to help smooth the transition into Queens College for first year students. This
is a great way for students to get involved on campus while simultaneously making a difference. We are currently looking for new mentors for next school year and are specifically looking for Arts & Humanities students. Attached below
is information about the program, role, and application process. We would greatly appreciate you forwarding over this information to your students. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thank you in advance!
Best,
First Year Experience
The First Year Experience (FYE) program is designed to guide First-Year
Students as they transition to Queens College (CUNY). To facilitate the transition, mentors will serve as models for navigating college. Methods of assisting First-Year Students will include formulating academic plans and time management strategies and developing
career paths. The relationship between mentor and mentee is symbiotic, with both parties sharing mutual respect and providing each other the support to grow as people and professionals. In the process, First-Year Students will be presented with encouragement,
reassurance, and exposure to knowledge they may otherwise not gain in a traditional classroom.
Currently, the First Year Experience Program is looking for new mentors from the Arts and Humanities Division. For more information on the role please visit our
website. If you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior currently and are interested in working with FYE please fill out an application
here.
If you have any questions, you can reach out to the First Year Experience Program at fye@qc.cuny.edu.
