Middle Village Preparatory Charter School is looking for a Middle School ICT Special Ed Teacher.
The position requirements are as follows:
* To function as Co-Teacher with a General Education Teacher in an Inclusion setting.
* Collaborate with general education colleagues to ensure instruction is differentiated and meeting common core standards.
* Create and implement lesson plans based on student needs.
* Work closely with peers and administration to develop multifaceted curriculum that integrates
multiple subjects and approaches to meet the individual needs of students.
* Lead classroom differentiation through curricular modifications, instructional techniques, parallel instruction, and integrated classroom strategies.
* Assess and develop goals for the IEP process.
* Implement IEP goals and strategies into an integrated classrooms.
* Maintain an awareness of school's strategic initiatives and incorporate them into your work.
* Regularly and accurately report student progress and maintain accurate and up to date records related to student achievement, performance, and IEP goals.
* Review data daily and amend your approach accordingly.
* Take an active role in your professional development by identifying and creating opportunities to expand your skills to meet the demands of individual student needs.
* Communicate frequently with students, students' families, colleagues and other school personnel.
* Attend IEP meetings and parent conferences
Middle School Science Teacher
Middle Village Prep Charter School is seeking a NYS certified science teacher for the middle school setting. The candidate should be comfortable teaching any of the following sciences: Living Environment, Introductory Physics, Introductory Chemistry, and Regents Level Earth Science. Additionally, the candidate would be teaching a STEM course (current courses include Design and Modeling, Robotics and Automation, and Medical Detectives) that requires additional training provided by the school (any prior experience with STEM courses would be advantageous). The school is equipped with two science laboratories. The candidate should be flexible, willing and eager to collaborate with coworkers, and have a hands on approach to their science teaching.
S.T.E.M Teacher
Candidate will plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning, show appropriate teaching and learning strategies and meet diverse student needs. Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of Computer Science Technology instruction as well as the ability to have students produce year end projects.
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning, employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students including strategies to meet diverse student needs. Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of Computer Science Technology instruction as well as the ability to have students produce functioning robotics, effective use of 3D Printing, Drones, Virtual Reality devises, among others.
Responsibilities:
* Develops appropriate Computer Science Technology Curriculum for students in grades 6-8.
* Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress through activities and hands on learning
* Modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
* Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the Computer Science Technology field by attending seminars, participating in professional organizations, workshops or professional meetings.
* Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by the school
* Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
* Ensures that student conduct conform to the school’s standards, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
* Meets with other professional staff members, especially within the S.T.E.M. Program and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
* Selects appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory record.
* Knowledge of current Computer Science Technology education instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
* Knowledge of working with and gathering data from various programs
* Ability to organize and coordinate work.
* Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
* Ability to collaborate, coordinate and work closely with the Director of Technology

* Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field of Computer Science Technology.
* Knowledge of data information systems data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
* Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
* Ability to organize and coordinate work.
* Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
* Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
* Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
* Ability to adjust current schedule in order to lead and effectively manage the Fab Lab (beginning of November)
Education
* Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Technology education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
* Willingness to pursue a Masters Degree that will enable the candidate to earn appropriate State Certification
