Dear Holly,

I am writing on behalf of the New York University Department of Sociology, which will be holding 2 virtual information sessions in October for prospective applicants to its fully-funded PhD program. Our department is committed to the inclusion of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the academic community and we would like to invite Queens College's Department of Sociology to share these sessions with your students and other scholars committed to diversity. Each information session will be 1 hour long, during which current faculty will provide an overview of the PhD program and admission, as well as answer any questions.

We are proud to share the dynamic and vibrant community that has come together in our department—a community dedicated to preparing and training students, producing cutting-edge research, and communicating our scholarship. Key to the doctoral training offered by the NYU Department of Sociology is a distinguished faculty that includes individuals using diverse perspectives and methodological approaches. Areas in which the department has faculty strength include: Comparative/Historical Sociology; Criminology and Law; Culture; Demography; Education; Environment and Climate Change; Family; Gender; Sexualities; Stratification and Inequality; Political Sociology; Race and Ethnicity; Theory; and Urban Sociology. More information on our faculty and PhD students can be found here and here.

If you would be willing to share details (flyer attached) about these virtual info sessions, we'd appreciate it immensely. Thank you very much for considering the invitation. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best,

Kayla
