The department is looking for a teaching assistant for a DATA 212 / Research Methods course that runs on Tuesday/ Thursday from 1:40 - 3:40 in Powdermaker 117. Hello! For those who don’t know me, I graduated from QC in 2013 (M.A. in Data Analytics & Applied Social Research; I also earned my B.A. in Sociology from QC). When I was a kid, my mother used to bring me to QC’s daycare while she attended class… I guess I was always meant to go to college there! After graduating, I’ve worked in institutional research, huge market research firms, in housing policy research, in aerospace, in mobile games, and am now a gaming entrepreneur building cross-platform games and software, as well as, consulting… So, yup, the QC analytics & research degree is versatile and can literally bring you WHEREVER you want to go. Anyway, I wanted to reach out to this group because I’ve had a very unique (and awesome) opportunity come my way. I’ve been invited to present some of my research at RetroGameCon, NYS’s largest gaming convention! While reflecting on my previous experience of presenting my research at the Eastern Sociological Society’s conference alongside my mentor and friend, Professor Weinberg, as well as, running into Professor Rhindress unexpectedly at a conference in Florida while I was working for a NYC government housing agency, I figured I might as well reach out to see if anyone will be at RGC and wants to stop by and say ‘hi’. I’m on LinkedIn under my married name (Kristie Matthews), and have also sent this email to my current email (Kristie.S.Matthews(a)outlook.com) for anyone who wants to connect.
