Dear colleagues and friends, We are excited to announce that the first meeting of the Sociology Department Seminar Series will take place next Wednesday (March 6) at 12:15 p.m. in the Sociology Department Lounge (PH-252). We will have our very own Christine Jang-Trettien to workshop her working paper entitled "Chronic Pain and the Geographic Clustering of Disability Assistance in the United States." This paper is going to be submitted to the PNAS soon, so your feedback will be greatly appreciated! Please email Christine <Christine.Jang(a)qc.cuny.edu> for a draft of the paper and read it beforehand if you can attend. The workshop will be mainly discussion and feedback followed by a simple introduction given by Christine. This meeting will be in person only. Please Light food and beverages will be served. Participants in this virtual event will not only receive feedback from leading scholars in the field, they will also be competing for cash prizes! Current students and recent graduates (within the past year) are eligible to submit an abstract in the fields of public opinion and methodology, including theory, substantive findings, research methods, and/or statistical techniques. If accepted to compete, participants will pre-record themselves narrating a slideshow presentation in which they discuss their research. Each participant will also have a Q&A period with our panel of judges during the event. To apply, submit a 250 word abstract by Thursday, March 28th, 2024.
