[Club_leaders_2020-2021 0142] Student poet/spoken word artist for Martin Luther King Jr. virtual event on 1/17 with a small honorarium
To all student leaders: The MLK virtual celebration on 1/17 is looking for students artists who can do a spoken word or poetry piece of about 2-3 minutes in length in honor of the event. There is a small honorarium budget to pay the student artist. Queens College will honor and pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in a virtual celebration of his powerful legacy and connection to student activism and engagement today. Queens College President Frank Wu will host THE TIME IS NOW: FORWARD!, Queens College’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, featuring welcoming remarks by QC Student President Zaire Couloute and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, highlight readings of Dr. King’s speech delivered at Queens College in 1965, virtual performances, special guests, and a post-program Livestream discussion. We’re trying to collect the short video pieces by December 31 for inclusion in the final program, broadcast on Sun 1/17 at 3 pm.
