Good Morning, Student Leaders! In addition to the CUNY LGBTQI+ Leadership Program, CUNY has launched the CUNY LGBTQI+ Advocacy Academy. There is a limited number of students that can be accepted for this first Academy cohort (10-15). The students accepted into the Academy will be offered: * a monthly stipend ($50) and a $250 stipend upon completion. * a stipend for 1st and 2nd place projects at the end for those who have the best previously agreed upon projects. * an opportunity to be mentored in their study/major or interest. * connected with Internship opportunities with well known LGBTQI+ businesses and organizations in both the profit and non-profit sectors. * understanding advocacy in local and state government and more. The Academy is scheduled to meet from 11am - 1pm on the designated dates below: * March 5, 19 * April 2, 16, 30 * May 7, 21 * June 4, 18 Academy Application Deadline EXTENDED: February 19th at 5 PM. Message from Mariam Aslam: "Hello everyone! My name is Mariam Aslam and I asked JC to send out this email to let you know about a program I am a part of. The Peer Counseling program trains students to become active listeners capable of helping their fellow students through personal and academic struggles. The program is a two-semester commitment; the first semester consists of hands-on training with a Counselor in QC's Counseling Center in preparation for the second semester, during which students see clients 1-on-1 and continue to hone their counseling skills. The Peer Counseling office is accepting applications for the Spring semester and will be accepting applications till March 16th.
