Dear Accounting Majors: The Economics Department has passed a proposal eliminating Calculus as a pre-requisite for Economics 249 (Statistics). Thus Math 131 will no longer be required to take Economics 249. Pre-Calculus (Math 122 or the equivalent) will still be required. This proposal must still go through the approval process even though passage is very likely. It will most likely go into effect for the Fall 2020 semester. Students who intended to take Math 131 this upcoming Spring semester may want to consider waiting for the new requirement to take effect hopefully next Fall. Another alternative is to take Math 131 on a P/NC basis which has always been an option since it is technically not part of the Accounting major. Please be guided accordingly. Professor Marvin F.
