Dear Students, Professor Elizabeth Quaye is looking to interview 20 to 25 volunteers for her research. The volunteers need to be accounting majors and have completed at least one year of accounting studies. Both graduate and undergraduate students are welcome. Her qualitative research project focuses on the role that psychological distance, appeal, effective teaching, and student learning styles techniques played in motivating accounting students to pursue an accounting degree. The research has received IRB exemption and there will be no risks to students. Participating students will sign a consent form to confirm that they are participating in the research voluntarily. The interview will take about an hour to complete, and it will be strictly confidential and anonymous. As a thank you for participating in the research, students who are interviewed will be given $20 and the overall results will be shared with them if they so desire. Student participation in this research will help to enhance the almost non-existent research on psychological distance and accounting education. Their opinions, knowledge and insights may (a) help institutions of higher education put systems in place to attract and retain talented students with the aptitude and potential to succeed in accounting; (b) contribute to developing student interest early on in their studies to pursue an accounting career; (c) The students will benefit from a rewarding career and at the same time, they will help the country and the world’s economy by helping to build sound financial systems. Dear Senior Accounting Majors: I have a limited number of seats available in various Accounting graduate courses for the Fall semester. If you are graduating this upcoming Fall semester and intend to continue on to one of our two graduate programs, here is an opportunity for you to take one or more graduate courses as an undergraduate. Here are the qualifications: 1. You must be a senior and scheduled to graduate this upcoming Fall semester. 2. Your overall GPA must be 3.2+. 3. You must intend to continue on to the MS in Accounting or MS in Taxation program. 4. You must be taking no more than three or four undergraduate courses this fall semester. 5. You must earn a minimum grade of B- for the courses to be transferred to the graduate program. 6. You cannot use these courses for both your undergraduate degree and masters degree unless you are a Second BA student. If you qualify and are interested, please respond to this email.
